The home was built in 1850 by Henry Miller, owner of the Miller Hotel in downtown Brownsville. He rented it to his partner, Charles Stillman, the founder of Brownsville, and Stillman's bride. The house got its name from the rentors. In 1958 Chauncey Stillman, great-grandson of Charles Stillman, purchased the home and gifted it to the rownsville Historical Association, which in turn gave it to the City of Brownsville
